
Institute Euro-Balkan
The Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities “Euro-Balkan” is a scientific research institution certified by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia (Decision No. 33 for entry at the registry of scientific-research establishments) and is accredited from the Board for Accreditation of Higher Education in the Republic of Macedonia to implement scientific activity on post-graduate level. In its activities, the Institute is divided generally in two main programs: School for Regional Studies and Division for Applied Policy Research.
The School for Regional Studies consists of the following departments: Department for Gender Studies, Department for Post-Graduate Studies, Department for Contemporary Political Thought and Department for Visual and Cultural Research. The Division for Applied Policy Research is concerned with issues from the domain of social inclusion.
The country is a signatory of the Bologna Declaration and an EU candidate country and as such has fully harmonized its Higher Education Legislation with that of the EU. The study programs are organized according to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) enabling simple procedures of worldwide recognition of the diplomas acquired here. The Institute is part of the European Erasmus Charter of Higher Education institutions, under the Charter number of 257220-IC-2010-1-MK-ERASMUS-EUC-1.
The Ohrid Summer University and the Library function as separate programs.
Most of the Institute’s employees are young researchers, who have either graduated or hold MA and PhD.
The Institute’s Mission is to consistently introduce standards of academic quality that involve critical thinking, contributing to the development of a new generation of young academic cadre able to transform the national and regional scientific and educational reality by bringing it closer to current European standards.
